Over the millennia, mushrooms have been incorporated into countless natural remedies. They now even feature prominently in pharmaceutical drugs, and clinical research over the past few decades has confirmed significant benefits of mushrooms on overall health and wellness. Mushrooms contain Beta 1,3; 1,6 D-glucan, a component linked to support wellness.

Fungus research has led to the discovery of pharmaceuticals including penicillin, ciclosporin, griseofulvin, cephalosporin, ergometrine and the statin drugs. The first statin, mevastatin, was isolated from the fungus Penicillium citrinum in 1976. Later, Merck isolated lovastatin from the fungus Aspergillus terreus. The oyster mushroom naturally produces lovastatin, mushrooms produce vitamin D when exposed to UV light, and fungi are a potential source of taxol. Just recently, researchers started to focus on the key component, Beta 1,3; 1,6 D-glucan, from the mushrooms that appear to offer potential health benefits.

The exceptional clinical potential of the mushroom beta glucan has motivated our researchers to look into the possibilities to cultivate and process different mushrooms more efficiently. For more than 20 years of research and development, Super Beta Glucan has pioneered the proprietary beta glucan manufacturing process by cultivating the following medicinal mushrooms:
